Perth Manor - Boutique Hotel & Reception Facility

23 Drummond Street West

Welcome to the Perth Manor. We are your hosts Michael Dwyer and David Marshall. We purchased the Manor in April 2002 and continue to operate as a Boutique Hotel & Reception Facility offering onsite event planning for corporate and special occasions. We invite you to step back in time, yet enjoy all of todays luxuries.

History of the Manor

The Manor was formerly known as "Thurreson House". It was constructed in 1878 by local merchant J. T. Henderson at a cost of 12000 Pounds. After his death in 1895, it became home to his daughter Jessie Mabel Henderson, who married John A. Stewart, one of Perth's most prominent citizens.

John Stewart was at various times the President of the Wampole Co. Ltd., the Andrew Jergens Company Ltd. and the Perth Shoe Company. He also operated the McLaren Distillery and Perth Expositor, and was Minister of Railways and Canals during the Meighen years. [Stewart Park in centretown was donated to the Town of Perth by his wife to commemorate John A. Stewart].

In 1973 the manor was purchased by Catherine Doomberg and converted into a Seniors Home.

In 1991 it was purchased by Phil and Gisela Aston and converted to an Inn with a restaurant. In the mid 1990's they closed the restaurant and down-sized to a Bed and Breakfast facility.

The restored gardens Garden prior to archeological dig

True to the spirit of an English country mansion, the gardens are located through the Conservatory double doors. After coming across an old photograph. Michael Dwyer & David Marshall made an amazing discovery. Buried under the existing sod was the original flagstone walkway. Spending 6 weeks on their hands and knees they were able to remove the over grown sod to reveal the original flagstone and pathways created in the mid 1910's by Mr. and Mrs. J. A. Stewart.

Perth manor is fully licensed. Why not enjoy a beverage in either the Conservatory Bar, or take a stroll through the sunken gardens beyond?
