Our retail store is called urbanMarket - Perth and is located in the relaxed atmosphere of historic downtown Perth,Ontario, Canada. Previously I worked in Quality Control in the high tech industry in Nepean and I am trained in "Haute Couture" at Richard Robinson's L'Académie des Couturiers Canadiens in Ottawa. I understand how quality fashions and clothing are manufactured and my training is to your benefit, as I screen out products which don't come up to our quality standards. Let me tell you a little about what I am up to with urbanMarket - Perth.
If all the malls in North America look the same to you and tend to make you feel like this... then you need to pay me a visit. I am not only the owner - but also the buyer - and am usually in the store to assist you with your selection. I can assure you that I am not owned and controlled by some global multi-national company. What I try to do is find unique products from around the world that my customers tell me they are looking for - that you will have difficulty finding in most cities - then combine them and offer them at reasonable prices. We don't run fake sales of the week - we offer fair prices all the time. To do this I get to many of the major trade shows in Montréal, Toronto, North bay and Las Vegas. I can usually find the products before they become "all the rage" in your local stores. Our customers appreciate that the owner/buyer is in the store - that they can find a unique selection of products usually only found in larger metropolitan areas - that we have product lines for the whole family - that we know and understand the products. They also enjoy the "Make Haste Slowly" motto of the town that is quite a change from the hectic pace of most malls. We carry dozens of quality product lines including Mountain, Bfofo, Warrior and Radical Nature T Shirts; Ex Officio Travel and Sports wear; 'Smart Wool' Marino wool socks [as near to sock perfection as you can get - says Backpacker magazine]; Coolmax clothing (hot flashes keeping you awake nights? try our coolmax sleepwear); Ingenuity - washable ladies business/travel suits; SunVeil [the clothing that gives you permanent 97% UV protection]; Speedo and Louis Garneau swim wear [we carry these year round]; French Dressing Jeans (made for women) ; works of art by local Perth artists such as the 'Nostalgic Realist - Craig Campbell'. We also carry specialty items such as the kid powered Plasmacar [what does make it go?]; and the new award winning board game 'Gobblet'. These are but a small fraction of the innovative product lines we carry. We also carry jewellry, puzzles, toys, stuffed animals, collector ceramics, and others too numerous to mention. We also have an unique way of displaying our products. Instead of the industrialized 'like things together' mode - we intermix the products in surprising ways - to enhance your browsing experience. To express our appreciation to our more senior customers we offer a 55+ program. Anyone 55 years of age or over is offered a 5% discount year round on all regularly priced items in the store.
Our building has a colourful history. Gus Quattrocchi, a
long time local resident has collected an extensive history
of the Merchants of Perth. He has compiled the list of all
the merchants who have occupied this building all the way
back to 1832. Click here
for a summary for our store.
