Course Description:
The XML Roadmap course is a two-day
hands-on course that will provide an overview
of "main road" XML technologies, with some side
trips to explore complementary XML
technologies. You will learn the following
through lectures, hands-on exercises and a case
study:

What is XML, where it fits in current Web
technologies and what kind of problems it
addresses

How to mark up data to produce well-formed
and valid XML documents

How to perform document analysis to prepare
for effective DTD design
-
How to design a Document Type Definition
(DTD) to specify the content and structure of
a document
-
How to use XML technologies and standards to
address specific issues such as naming
document elements or linking to other
documents

What XML tools exist and how to use them to
develop XML documents
-
How to transform data from XML to other
formats to allow exchanges with other
technologies and present this data to
users
-
What XML Schemas are, their basic structure
and how they will address shortcomings of
DTDs
Attendees will not receive merely copies of the
lecture slides, they will receive a copy of
"The XML Roadmap" - over 100 pages that
provides reference material for all the
subjects covered in the course.
