Talk Back

Welcome to the all-about-perth.com TALK BACK page. Part of the objective of this site is 'dialog'. To make this a two way dialog, we would like to hear you thoughts about the site, about Perth etc.

See below - this guestbook has been shut down permanently. As an alternative I invite you to visit the all-about-perth.com BLOG

Please note that effectively immediately I have shut off this guestbook facility. The latest technique of the spammers to load up guestbooks with links to their sites to get better ratings in the search engines causes me too much lost effort. I will implement a mail system shortly, so that if you have a legitimate guestbook entry I will add it manually. In the meantime, in case they are still able to get messages into the guestbook, please do not click on any message that I have not checked.

Everything below
"===== MESSAGES BELOW ARE CHECKED =====" has been checked.

CAUTION: Let me re-iterate.. if you click on anything in the unchecked area, you are extremely likely to be infected by some virus. Do NOT click on any site listed in the unchecked area.

I found your site when looking for information about Ontario. Very nice and informative. I made a link from my website, so everyone can enjoy it. When placing this link is a problem, please let me know and i will remove it from my site. You can find my website at: http://jkersten.topcities.com Greetings from Holland Jan Kersten

On recent trips to the Perth Farmers' Market, I was informed that purchasing eggs at the market would now constitute an illegal act. Recent changes to regulations made it illegal for farmers to sell "ungraded eggs" at the market, although they were still able to sell them at the farm gate.

Grading stations are very expensive items for the very small egg producer, and hence are unrealistic.

The people involved provided me with a reference to http://www.farm-facts-or-fiction.org which reveals that there seems to be a movement underway to elliminate the family farm.

I encourage to read the information at this site and if you are as concerned as me about what you read, contact the Prime Minister and other elected officials to raise your concern.

We are blessed to have been able to call Silver Lake(Maberly) our seasonal home since 1972. We our proud of our record of staying happily married after exchanging vows in Perth, having the pictures done in that georgeus park. The thought/knowledge of being able to soon make Perth our all season home sustains us through some classic "sandwich generation" type challenges. Your web site is indeed a treasure. Here's to PERTH, Cheers from Cathy & Reinhard

Please Note: - the all-about-perth.com Talk Back Facility has been non operational for a while due to major changes at the internet provider end.

The problems should now be resolved. Thanks for your patience.

We love the aura of the Greater Perth area. Our goal is to relocate with our two children 7-10, someday soon. We appreciate the relaxed feeling that only Lanark County's scenic beauty can reward.

This is a great site for a wonderful town. I just visited Perth for the holidays and it's as pretty as ever (although at this time of year it would have been even nicer under a thin blanket of snow!) I'm a descendant of one of the Glen Tay Chaplins (Burton), who died in 1969 and one of his sons, Arnold, who died in 2002. IWe are cousins of the Chaplin Dairy family. I am always interested in finding out more about how long the Chaplins have been in Perth...er...Glen Tay and if anyone knows who settled the town of Chaplin, Saskatchewan and if there is a Glen Tay connection to that?

Greetings from Midland Michigan USA Hi I am looking for some relatives that came to Perth and or Bathurst between 1832 and 1844 from County Wexford Ireland . They attended St John the Baptist Catholic Church. They were Michael and Margaret Foley and their six children. In 1850 they left for Emmett, St Clair County Michigan. One of their children Thomas Foley and his wife Elizabeth Harper Foley stayed behind in Bathurst. If anyone knows of any relations of this family please contact me. Thank you very much Deanna Steele

Hi Sally... If Perth, Ontario is the Perth you are looking for, then maybe some other reader can assist. Perhaps I should start up a new section in the "Past" called "Genealogy Help".. as there was a couple from Brandon Manitoba looking for the descendents of John Donald and Marion Duncan.

Residents of Ottawa have a new gateway to this site - clicking here will get you there.

I was looking for some information on my grandfather and ran across your site. If this is the right Perth, then my grandfather was the Chief Of Police in the early 1900's. His name was Morley DeWitt White. My mother was born upstairs over the fire station if my recall is correct. If I can find out if I am in the right town then I hope to come and visit someday. Canada rocks

I decided to check out your website because I was born in Perth, Ontario in 1959. I don't remember alot about the old Perth because we moved to Toronto when I was five years old but I have visited many times over the years. I was astonished to see how much development there is. Your website has given me some insite into my hometown that I wasn't even aware of. Thanks.

Hello Hugh, My name is Jack Paterson originally from Perth in Scotland from which your lovely town takes its name. Like you we have a River Tay, rather than Tay river, and indeed in parallel to your golf story, the North Inch course in Perth is reputed to be the oldest course, not club, in the world. It goes back to the 15th century. Perth itself dates from Roman times. The original name is said to be Bertha which has been corrupted to Perth. The story goes that as Agricola marched his army into the valley of the Tay he saw seven hills surrounding the valley and was reminded of Rome which is surrounded by seven hills. He is reputed to have said, "Ecce Tiber, Ecce Roma." which in English is "Look, the Tiber, Look, Rome." No doubt Perth, Scotland figures in your plans for 'Perths of the world'. If I can help please let me know. By the way, I now live in Totnes in Devon, South West England, a very lovely Elizabethan Town, the second oldest borough in England. My best wishes for your continued development of the Perth website. Yours aye, Jack Paterson

Welcome to the new Talk Back Facility

One intent from the start for this site was dialog. To this end I have implemented this Talk Back facility to start the two way dialog. I hope that explorers of the site will take the time to share their views about the site.

I am always looking for new "Perth" Stories, so let me know what your story is.

Segments we are working on are:

  • People of Perth - Past, Present, Future
  • Last Duel - a multimedia exploration
  • Perths of the World

Hope to hear from you all soon.

Cheers...Hugh
